Some people are like inferior sticky notes: They just fall away. When you’re out of sight, you’re out of mind. Why do I keep picking up the fallen paper and re-sticking it? This happens so many times, dirt accumulates on the strip of glue, making it less and less effective, until one day it just doesn’t stick anymore.
What secret ingredient does 3M use? Their Post-Its are not sticky enough to damage the paper when the note needs to come off, yet they cling to it as long as they’re needed. Sometimes I buy the cheaper brands, only to keep learning my lesson. That secret formula–that delicate blend of self-preservation, multiplied by the courage to extend one’s boundaries–is worth every centavo.
I vow to save my energies for the real thing.
